Work primarily in small groups or one-on-one with struggling readers. They typically spend 80% of their time doing direct service like that, and around 20% of their time performing capacity building duties such as reporting, grant writing, volunteer management, etc.

AmeriCorps State members:
- Receive a $1050 per-month living stipend.
- Are eligible for DSHS programs (the monthly stipend is not counted toward total income).
- Work full time, 40-hours per week.
- Must accrue 1700 hours by the end of their term of service in order to receive the $4,725 education award.
