Northwest Washington Reading Corps

benefits

Serving with the Northwest Washington Reading Corps isn't just about giving back to your community-- it's also about taking care of yourself! Here is an overview of the benefits we offer to our members:

child care

Different childcare is available for State and VISTA members. Eligibility is based on income requirements. Childcare payments are made to the provider on a reimbursement schedule. Visit the NACCRA website for more information.

education award

The education award is available to both AmeriCorps State and VISTA members who successfully complete their term of service. The education award is $4,725 for the 2009-2010 program year. This award is taxable, but the Northwest Washington Reading Corps provides training to all members on how to effectively use their education award.

experience

There's no value that can be placed on the hands-on experience you'll gain from serving with the Northwest Washington Reading Corps. Whether you're looking to get experience working with kids and in schools, or hoping to gain knowledge in specific skills such as volunteer recruitment and management, your term of service on our team will help give you the experience you need to pursue future employment or education in similar fields.

The monthly living stipend varies for the members on our team due to the different legislation they were created under.
